The New York State Developmental Disabilities Planning Council, (NYSDDPC) has funded a project being led by the Yang-Tan Institute on Employment and Disability at Cornell University, (in partnership with the Sibling Leadership Network, (SLN) and sibsNY). The result is a new resource for siblings of people with disabilities, SiblingResources.org, a website dedicated to serving the needs of siblings through networking opportunities, webinars, and more.

Siblings are an important but often overlooked group. They often are the people who have the longest relationships with their brothers or sisters with disabilities. The new website brings together siblings of people with intellectual and other developmental disabilities through education, mutual connections, and partnerships with like-minded organizations.
Available Resources:
- Online Learning – Self-paced training on important topics for siblings such as planning for the future and navigating the disabilities service system.
- Educational Webinars – available to both siblings and service providers, to educate on important topics.
- Sibchats – Phone conversations in which adult siblings from across New York State connect with each other to discuss and share expertise in future planning for one’s sibling with a disability, securing appropriate services within the New York State disabilities services system, and tools to advocate on the behalf of siblings.

Adult siblings, people with intellectual and other developmental disabilities, parents, and family members, guardians, professionals, friends, and colleagues are invited to register with SiblingResources.org and become a valuable part of a growing network of siblings.
