University Internships
There are many exciting internship opportunities
at AHRC New York City. Internships are offered in social work, psychology, special education, law, public policy, drama therapy, substance abuse counseling, rehabilitation counseling, and speech therapy (CCCY).
The goal of the Internship Program at AHRC is to provide educationally sound placements so that the organization can introduce students to the challenges faced by persons with developmental disabilities, and attract talented, dedicated professionals to the field.
AHRC offers interns the opportunity to work with individuals of all ages who have varying degrees of developmental delays and disabilities. Whether providing services to preschool children, adolescents, adults, or senior citizens, interns will be working alongside AHRC staff that is knowledgeable about the best practices used in the field.
APA Internships
AHRC also offers Pre-Doctoral Level Psychology Internships that are accredited by the APA. As part of their training, psychology interns can expect to become involved in a number of service delivery programs including:
- Outpatient mental health services
- Interdisciplinary assessment services
- Rehabilitation services for persons with traumatic brain injury
- Crisis intervention services provided via a mobile team
As part of an interdisciplinary team, psychology interns will interact with a broad range of professionals including physicians, social workers, nurses, speech and language pathologists, occupational therapists and physical therapists.
