As individuals with developmental disabilities served by AHRC have become more medically frail and as community individuals with intensive medical needs were referred to AHRC for services, AHRC developed the following programs to meet their increasingly complex medical needs and to serve as a community alternative to nursing home placement.
Intermediate Care Facilities and Day Habilitation for Individuals Needing Full Time Nursing Oversight
Bloomberg Apartments in Jamaica, Queens are home to 24 individuals with developmental disabilities of all ages from the five boroughs that are in need of full time nursing oversight. The residence is comprised of four separate units called “neighborhoods” that are each home to six individuals. Each unit has its own bedrooms, living room and dining area, with unique décor. Staff includes nurse practitioners and supervising registered nurses 24/7. Residents also have access to speech, physical and occupational therapies as needed, as well as a day habilitation program at the residence.
Dixon Goodman Apartments on 126th Street Apartments in Harlem are home to 24 individuals with developmental disabilities of all ages from the five boroughs that are in need of full time nursing oversight. The residence is comprised of four separate units called “neighborhoods” that are each home to six individuals. Each unit has its own bedrooms, living room and dining area, with unique décor.
