Technology is an essential tool for assisting people with developmental disabilities as they solve problems, make choices, and achieve their goals.

Recent advances in technology have enabled people with communication challenges to communicate more efficiently. Communication support devices are used to give people with challenges a way to express themselves thereby allowing them to be more independent, enhance their ability to direct their own lives and be a part of the community. AHRC New York City has developed an expertise in customizing and using everyday technologies to be assistive.
