Reported by silive.com‘s Kristin Dalton, Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) and parents who care for Staten Islanders with intellectual and developmental disabilities are facing unique challenges providing services and caring for some of the borough’s most vulnerable residents. There are approximately 100 residents living in group homes and supportive apartments on Staten Island through AHRC.

We are concerned is what people are feeling — my routine is no longer routine. There’s loss, almost like a depression, because there’s still the unknown that’s there and the anxiety and the tension,” said Michael Weinberg, vice president of residential services for AHRC NYC. “But they’re still adapting.”
