Most clinical services provided are covered by Medicaid and/or Medicare. If a person does not have Medicaid or Medicare, we may be able to help to obtain it. If you are a member of an HMO or other managed care plan, you may or may not be eligible to receive certain services. For people with no coverage, we offer a sliding scale fee.
Clinical Services are available throughout the five boroughs of New York City, to people with developmental disabilities, ages 5 and up. Additionally, certain support services can be provided to other family members who do not themselves have a disability.
Clinical Supports, Services, & Treatment for Children and Adults
Psychological Assessment
AHRC NYC’s Clinical Center for Disabilities provides a comprehensive array of evaluation services including: Psychological Assessment, Psychosocial Evaluation, Sexuality Assessment, and Additional Assessments, to assess and assist in determining needs for individuals with developmental disabilities.
Psychotherapy/Counseling
AHRC NYC’s Clinical Center for Disabilities provides psychotherapy services to assist individuals and families address and resolve life challenges. Our experienced clinical team provides a comprehensive continuum of mental health supports.
Crisis Intervention Services
Our Family Support Crisis Team provides in-home behavior management to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and access to emergency respite, as well as referrals to, and/or consultation with, various agencies, hospitals, and schools.
Crisis Respite Transition Program
Our Crisis Respite Transition Program (CRTP) is a 5-bed specialized transitional housing program. It supports safe hospital discharges for people who no longer require hospital-based medical or psychiatric care but are not able to return to their prior residences because their families or caregivers are unable to support their needs.
Intensive Case Management Technical Assistance Program
Our Intensive Case Management Technical Assistance Program provides crisis intervention and emergency case management to people with suspected or confirmed intellectual and/or developmental disabilities (I/DD) and their caregivers, helping to prevent medically unnecessary and extended hospitalizations while improving the functional status and quality of life for all served.
Recovery Supports and Wellness Services
We offer drug and alcohol prevention, education and referral/intensive case management services through the PEIR and Cross System Care Collaboration programs for individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities and/or traumatic brain injury.
OT, PT, & Speech Services
AHRC NYC’s Clinical Center for Disabilities provides therapies to help people communicate, reach their physical potential, and fully participate in the things they want and need to do in everyday life.
Nutritional Counseling
Nutrition counseling helps people make healthy food choices and form healthy eating habits. Our registered dietitians help people identify strategies for mealtime support and create menus of healthy food options to meet unique nutritional needs.
Family Reimbursement
Our Family Reimbursement Program offers vital financial aid to families caring for people with developmental disabilities in New York City. Requests may include a variety of goods and short-term services aimed at enhancing the quality of life for the person with a disability.
Clinic Locations
Our clinics are easily accessible by public transportation. Ambulette services may be arranged if required.
Clinics are open by appointment only; please no walk-ins. Plan a visit and get the care you need. Limited remote care through telehealth services are available. Please inquire.
