Pace Boosts MHSIncluded in the Winter edition of Autism Spectrum News is an article by Lynn Berman, detailing the longstanding service-learning partnership between AHRC New York City and Pace University under the pandemic.  While participating in the program, the students of AHRC Middle / High School gain a taste of college while developing social and computer skills. Pace students gain an understanding of teens on the autism spectrum and realize they share much in common.

Five hundred MHS students have benefited from the 10-year-old Pace partnership. The project isn’t the only takeaway, says Trudy Pines, MHS Assistant Principal. “It boosts our students’ self-esteem. It makes them proud that they can do this. They want to feel responsible. We provide support so they can have a future in college or a career. Our students feel empowered.”
