We are pleased to bring you the second edition of Speaking Up for What Matters, AHRC NYC’s publication which highlights the efforts of people with intellectual and other developmental disabilities as they speak up for themselves, define their own life goals, and engage with their communities.
In this edition we introduce Kristin, Chad, Andreina, and Victor as they visit Albany to speak to their legislators about what really matters to them. We also invite you to sign a petition honoring the life-long work of Bernard Carabello, a pioneer in self-advocacy for people with intellectual and other developmental disabilities.
In the video below, you will witness their meetings with public officials. In the articles that follow, we will learn more about their personal stories, and the steps they have taken to achieve their goals.
