AHRC New York City

Advocating for people with intellectual, developmental, and other disabilities to lead full and equitable lives.

Employment is important to any person, regardless of their abilities/disabilities.

Employment services are available to individuals with developmental disabilities 18 and older, and some specified services are available to individuals without disabilities who meet income guidelines from all five boroughs.

AHRC New York City has a long-standing tradition of supporting people with disabilities as they Prepare for Employment and Obtain & Maintain Employment.

AHRC NYC offers a variety of employment training programs and employment opportunities that help people to achieve their goals.

Finding & Supporting Employment

We find employment opportunities for people with developmental disabilities and continue our support to help people maintain their jobs. We foster a person’s natural abilities, utilizing their past and current skills to create employment opportunities. Some individuals may choose to attend AHRC NYC’s weekly Job Club that helps to prepare them for the workforce and build upon their current skills.

Our Supported Employment programs offer people with disabilities opportunities to enter the workforce, and to be successful in maintaining their employment. Direct Placement programs are available for individuals who are interested in direct employment opportunities, as opposed to an internship or a training program.

Each individual will be provided with a Job Coach to assist them with the hiring process and securing employment. After securing employment, the Job Coach will provide support at the work site from day one.
