On April 29, 2016, the students from the Melissa Riggio Higher Education Program from the College of Staten Island, Kingsborough Community College, Borough of Manhattan Community College, and Hostos Community College came to together to participate in a film festival that was held at the Brooklyn Superhero Supply Co. in Park Slope. Students from all four programs proved to be dedicated film makers as they wrote, directed, acted in, and edited the films.
Films ranged from documentaries to thrillers and included zombies, witches, and Prince. The excitement soared through the room as everyone gathered together. In between films, movie knowledge was tested by a friendly game of movie trivia. Awards were given out for Best Actress, Best Actor, and Best Editing. The awards made the students happy because it was like the awards given out at the MTV Movie Awards with golden popcorn and all.
The biggest award was given to students at Kingsborough Community College for their extraordinary film. The winning film covered many genres including comedy and drama and had card games and dance-offs. They all had a blast making this movie. All of their hard work paid off!
