Internships                                                        
Internships are offered through various universities primarily in or around New York City, such as Columbia University, NYU, Hunter College, Fordham University, St. John's University, as well as Duke University in North Carolina.  Currently AHRC supervises interns in:  social work, psychology, special education, law, public policy, drama therapy, substance abuse counseling, rehabilitation counseling, and speech therapy (CCCY).  Note:  AHRC offers Pre-Doctoral Level Psychology Internships that are accredited by the APA.

Ongoing Staff Training & 
Education Opportunities
                                     
AHRC staff are provided with frequent opportunities to improve their skills through staff training seminars.

Additionally, AHRC staff are encouraged to further their education in the field of developmental disabilities and related studies.  A variety of for-credit-courses are offered through the City University of New York and a tuition loan-forgiveness program provides financial assistance to staff members continuing their education.  The Kennedy Fellows Program provides financial assistance and a mentoring opportunity for persons on staff who apply and are chosen to participate.
