AHRC New York City

Advocating for people with intellectual, developmental, and other disabilities to lead full and equitable lives.

AHRC New York City (AHRC NYC) is a family governed organization that envisions a socially just world where the power of difference is embraced. We advocate for people who are neurodiverse to lead full and equitable lives. Generosity guides us as we honor our legacy and continuously grow through a culture where curiosity, creativity, and optimism are valued and celebrated.

Within this culture, internship opportunities are available for graduate college students seeking course credit or for whom fieldwork is required, and for people who are preparing for graduate school.

Additionally, AHRC NYC can accommodate interns who are interested in all fields of Human Services, although selections may depend on our ability to provide an intern with proper oversight by staff.

Examples of Available Internships include:

  • Social Work
  • Psychology
  • Special Education
  • Drama Therapy
  • Mental Health and Rehabilitation Counseling
  • Speech Therapy (CCCY)

Availability of internship opportunities is dependent on ongoing vacancies or needs in our various program departments.

The goal of our Internship Program is to provide talented and dedicated students with educationally-sound placements working directly with people with developmental and intellectual disabilities under the guidance and supervision of professionals who are certified to provide field instruction.

AHRC NYC internships offer the opportunity to work with people of all ages, who have varying degrees of developmental delays and disabilities. Whether providing services to preschool children, adolescents, adults, or senior citizens in educational, residential, clinical or day habilitation settings, interns will work alongside AHRC NYC staff who are knowledgeable about best practices and who are invested in ensuring a meaningful experience in the neurodiversity field.
