We support people with disabilities to speak for themselves and to make decisions about what matters to them.

Each Person Has a Voice

Today, more than ever before, people with disabilities are speaking for themselves and making choices to affect the direction of their own lives, and are empowered to get involved in their communities to act as agents of social change. AHRC New York City assists in self-advocacy by providing:

> Person-centered supports that focus on the unique goals and dreams of each person.
> Forums for peer discussion and learning.
> Opportunities for people to express themselves publicly.

An ever-increasing number of people who receive supports through our organization are active in the Self-Advocacy Organization. AHRC NYC supports the Self-Advocacy Organization of New York State and offers advocacy courses in all the boroughs.
