As reported by silive.com, AHRC NYC Board Member, Laura J. Kennedy’s storied career in advocating for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities continues at the national level. Elected president of TheArc in November 2022, Laura’s ongoing fight to defend the rights of people with disabilities includes ensuring that the dedicated staff who support them are appropriately paid.
“We need bi-partisan support by our state and federal legislators to meet the needs of people with disabilities,” says Laura. “Our national agenda has to value and support the important work of caregiving by increasing salaries of our dedicated direct support staff.”
