The Arc New York‘s Executive Directors Association (EDA) met at AHRC NYC Headquarters on June 3 and 4. As part of the meeting, the EDA honored graduates of its Leadership Institute, which aims to cultivate leadership potential across our statewide network and invest in the next generation of leaders.
AHRC NYC is proud to celebrate two of our own who graduated from the Leadership Institute: Edie Weber, Senior Vice President of Community Services, and Kent Willingham, Senior Vice President of Residential Services.

Edie said, “After more than three decades in the field, I believe leadership is a continuous learning journey, and the Institute offered an opportunity to gain new perspectives, strengthen strategic thinking, and enhance my ability to lead organizational growth and innovation. One of the most valuable aspects of the experience was learning alongside colleagues from diverse organizations and backgrounds. The program reinforced the importance of adaptive leadership, effective communication, and building strong partnerships to address the evolving needs of the people and communities we serve. I also gained practical insights into organizational strategy, change management, and cultivating future leaders within our organization.
I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to continue the legacy of strong parent advocates who have shaped and strengthened our field. Being part of the ARC Leadership Institute allowed me to honor that legacy while gaining the knowledge and skills needed to help advance the mission for future generations.”

Kent said, “I joined the ARC Leadership Program because I wanted to further develop my leadership capabilities, broaden my perspective beyond my own organization, and learn alongside professionals who are equally committed to advancing services and supports for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The program provided a valuable opportunity to step back from day-to-day operations and think more strategically about leadership, organizational sustainability, workforce development, and the future of our field.
Overall, the experience was both professionally and personally rewarding. It strengthened my confidence as a leader, reinforced my commitment to advocacy and person-centered services, and provided me with tools and perspectives that I continue to apply in my role today. I would highly recommend the program to anyone seeking to grow their leadership capacity and make a greater impact within their organization and community.”
