Via Autism Spectrum News comes an article, written by AHRC NYC’s CEO, Marco Damiani, which details our organization’s response to the COVID-19 epidemic.  Detailing the essential work of our front line staff under extremely challenging circumstances, the article also highlights the almost instantaneous migration of services from AHRC NYC locations and community settings to remote learning through online venues, the use of technology to support telehealth services, and the importance of funding to our field.

I could not be more proud of our staff and the people they support. They have gone above and beyond in every possible way. Like other providers across the country, AHRC NYC has incurred large and urgently needed additional expenses in staffing costs. We’ve also had to purchase huge amounts of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to keep our staff and the individuals they support safe. The House has recently passed another COVID-19 relief bill, which included dedicated funds for Medicaid home and community-based services, PPE and our workforce. Congress must include people with disabilities, their families, and direct support professionals in the next COVID-19 relief bill.”
