As published by silive.com, families, mentors, and hospital staffers gathered to celebrate 10 young adults, graduating from Northwell’s Staten Island University Hospital Project SEARCH internship program, implemented in partnership with Northwell Health, AHRC New York City.

Every weekday students attended employability classes, worked side-by-side with hospital staffers, and tackled real-world responsibilities. Lessons in budgeting, nutrition, social skills, and resume writing were as integral as learning how to disinfect rehab equipment, stock hospital supplies, or greet patients with a smile.

Project SEARCH Transition-to-Work Program is a one-year employment preparation program that combines classroom instruction and career exploration through on-site internships.
