The New York Times recently published an obituary detailing the remarkable life of Jack Gorelick, who was an AHRC NYC employee for decades, a pioneer in services for people with developmental disabilities, and a tireless advocate for people and their families. He passed away at the age of 104 in late 2023.

“Jack began the first program to teach intellectually disabled clients to travel on mass transit. He was also one of the first to publicly recognize that the patients at Willowbrook State School were living in disgraceful conditions… He also launched the first clinic serving the intellectually disabled.”
