Hands-on training to prepare people for employment in the field of Culinary Services

AHRC New York City offers training programs in specific fields. The training programs begin with work readiness and a focus on resume building, time management, teamwork, and interview preparation, followed by an externship that will provide hands-on experience in a chosen field.  At the end of the program, we will assist individuals in finding a job.

Train & Earn Culinary Services Eligibility:

  • 16 years old to 24 years old
  • Participants must be out of school, unemployed and must commit to the program length of 15 – 18 months.
  • Participants must display proof of an employment barrier which includes but is not limited to disability, low income, requires additional assistance.
  • Males ages 18-24 must be signed up with Selective Service to be enrolled.
  • This program is operated in Manhattan. Must be a resident of New York City.

Our Culinary Services program provides work-readiness training, occupation skills training, certificates, and internship opportunities. The program also applies to eligible participants for ACCES-VR services if requested and provides all participants who complete their training with job placement options.

The 15-week Culinary Services program offers financial literacy, resume and professional letter building, interview preparation, professional guidance and support, occupational skills training, food handler certificates and work-readiness skills, a strong foundation to your professional success and long-term employment.

Since this program is federally funded, we can bridge the gap for those families who are low income. Participants can receive metro cards until receiving their first stipend. $20 daily stipend will accrual and participant will receive weekly check based on their attendance and participation throughout the week. Also, if eligible for ACCES-VR services individuals will receive additional supports once employed.

Lastly the culinary program provides one year of follow up services, to ensure job placement was a success and continues to be beneficial for the participant.
