Eligibility Requirements for all DYCD Programs
- People between the ages of 16 and 24 years old
- Resident of one of the five boroughs of New York City
- Currently not in school and not working
- Legally authorized to work in New York City
Career training and employment programs for youth between the ages of 16-24 will help advance your career through comprehensive GED test preparation, employer-recognized training, credentials and certifications, and paid internships. These programs are funded by the NYC Department of Youth and Community Development, (DYCD) Workforce Connect.
Advance & Earn
Advance & Earn will help you explore career and educational goals while creating a plan to achieve them. This program, based in Staten Island and Manhattan, can be a life-changing opportunity and an important step toward a degree, independence, and the job of your dreams. Receive academic instruction to prepare for GED exams, work readiness training and paid internship opportunities, job placement assistance, and college counseling. Obtain Industry credentials and certifications, (Food Handler, Retail Specialist or Nationally Certified Direct Support Professional) and receive $150 weekly stipend or paid internship ($16/hour for up to 250 hours).

Train & Earn Environmental Services
Train & Earn Environmental Services is a career program that provides comprehensive job training, employment and support services. Available in Staten Island, Brooklyn, Queens, and the Bronx, this program includes Cleaning Management Institute certification. Participants who complete all program requirements receive job placement and a year of follow-up services.

Train & Earn Culinary Services
Our Culinary Services program provides work-readiness training, occupation skills training, certificates, and internship opportunities. The program offers financial literacy, resume and professional letter building, interview preparation, professional guidance and support, occupational skills training, food handler certificates and work-readiness skills, a strong foundation to your professional success and long-term employment.

Warehouse Operations
Jumpstart your career and receive certification in one of New York City’s fastest-growing industries in this Bronx-based program. The program components are classroom and hands-on training, paid internship. Learn the role of warehousing and distribution centers in the supply chain, including receiving, movement, storage, picking, packing, and packaging. Participants will receive assistance with resume prep and successful graduates will receive job placement services.
