Hands-on training to prepare people for employment in the field of Environmental Services

AHRC New York City offers training programs in specific fields. The training programs begin with work readiness and a focus on resume building, time management, teamwork, and interview preparation, followed by an externship that will provide hands-on experience in a chosen field.  At the end of the program, we will assist individuals in finding a job.

Train & Earn Environmental Services Eligibility:

  • Our Train and Earn Environmental Services program is available to New York City residents who are out of school and not currently employed, from low-income families, ages 16-24, of all abilities.
  • This program is operated in the Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens, and Staten Island.

Train & Earn Environmental Services is a career program that provides comprehensive job training, employment and support services. Participants receive 6-8 weeks of classroom training which includes work readiness, financial & digital literacy, labor market information and workshops. Participants are then assigned to their respective worksites for 2-3 weeks of hands-on training in a professional environment. Upon validation of work readiness documents and certificate, participants can begin 175 hours of a paid internship. Available in Staten Island, Brooklyn, Queens, and the Bronx, this program includes Cleaning Management Institute certification. Participants who complete all program requirements receive job placement and a year of follow-up services.

Young adults participating in this program will learn basic cleaning methods as well as advanced methods such as floor stripping, scrubbing, and polishing. Hands-on experiences will provide training in landscaping, snow removal, and the use of cleaning machinery.
