AHRC New York City

Advocating for people with intellectual, developmental, and other disabilities to lead full and equitable lives.

People supported through AHRC NYC’s Day Habilitation program participate in enriching experiences that enable them to express themselves through music and performance.

AHRC NYC’s Our Broadway is a remarkable performing arts group comprised of over 150 members supported by AHRC NYC with the help of Broadway professionals, (actors, musicians, wardrobe personnel, wig designers, ushers and stage managers,) who work professionally in the entertainment industry.

Collaborating with Broadway professionals, participants engage in the creation of theater, dance, and music, performing multiple musicals each year at the Jerry Orbach Theatre, and in schools, museums, and community centers across the city.

The Creation of Our Broadway

Drawing from his storied career as a Broadway performer, Dale Hensley created Our Broadway as a means to pair people with disabilities who are supported through AHRC NYC programs with Broadway performers. The difference it has made in their lives can be seen on their faces during periodic performances held at Broadway’s Jerry Orbach Theatre.
